Utajärvi Solar Park – Wisol participating in building Finland's largest solar power plant

Wisol ja NYAB have together since the beginning of 2024 launched a large solar power plant construction project in Utajärvi, Northern Ostrobothnia.

The exceptionally large solar park contains yli 170 000 bifacial solar panels and covers an area of n. 150 hehtaaria, equivalent to over 200 football fields.

Wisol’s part of the project was fully handed over in late summer 2025. The entire project is scheduled for completion in summer 2026.

Tämän kokoluokan aurinkopuiston rakentaminen näissä olosuhteissa on tähän mennessä ainutlaatuinen näyttö Suomessa.

A sustainable future for a former peat extraction area

Utajärvi’s previously decommissioned and overgrown peat area is coming back to life through the solar energy project. The area, which is not well suited for forestry or agriculture, is finally being put to productive use. The project will provide the Utajärvi region with a sustainable and revitalizing solution.

A total of 174,520 solar panels have been installed in the park area. The project was commissioned and developed by Skarta Energy.

Cost-effective and locally impactful project through collaboration

Wisol served as a subcontractor in the Utajärvi project and has been involved since the geotechnical surveys. The project was carried out through WisolinNYABin ja designtoimisto Siteman collaboration. The seamless commitment of the three parties has enabled the most cost-effective implementation solutions, constructively leveraging each company’s areas of expertise and strengths.

Supporting the economic development of the Utajärvi region and creating opportunities for locals have been important goals in the project. These goals have made it possible for the project to also employ local workers and subcontractors from Utajärvi and its neighboring municipalities.

The importance of Wisol's site-specific design is highlighted in large-scale energy projects

By leveraging Wisol’s robust site-specific design and wind simulations, the durability, suitability, and reliability of the area’s foundations and racks have been ensured.

Unique, fully customized solar panel mounting racks have been created for the Utajärvi site, combining durability and cost-effectiveness. These solutions not only optimize material use in a large solar power project, where even small factors have a significant impact, but also ensure reliable durability in the area’s soil conditions under all possible circumstances.

Wisol has been motivated and committed to providing a sustainable and reliable solar energy solution that meets the challenges of local needs and environmental requirements.

Passionate about safe solutions for solar power plants

We know Finnish roofs, Nordic weather conditions, and soil requirements

Our goal is to develop solar energy industry standards and quality requirements, both in terms of product durability and safety as well as installation methods. With us, you are guaranteed a weather-resistant mounting solution designed specifically for your site.

Our Clients

We installed solar panels for a 100-kilowatt solar energy system on the roof of an industrial hall in Eura. The main contractor for the project was PlayGreen Finland Oy.
We delivered properly dimensioned mechanics installed at the Kemiönsaari 2-megawatt solar power plant. The varying terrain posed particular challenges for the mechanical installation, but Wisol's screw pile technology achieved an extremely solid result.
Wisol and Solarigo are jointly building a large-scale solar park in Kuortane's Honkisaarenneva. The construction phase began in January 2025, and work is progressing as planned: foundation work is nearly complete, and mechanical and panel installations are advancing rapidly.
